QI GONG, The Gateway to Vitality
I offer personalized training and group classes in Qi Gong. Also see : Courses :
Qi (chi, chee) Means life-force or breath. Gong (Gung) means to cultivate. So Qi Gong, is the practice of cultivating life force energy. Qi Gong is often used hand in hand with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It had been renowned in china for centuries as a healing and spiritual practice with the ability to reverse aging, promote healing, transformation and longevity. Considered the "Mother of Tai Chi"; Qi Gong is an internal meditative practice that most often uses slow intentional movement in combination with specific breathing techniques to increase the circulation of Qi within the body.
As accupuncture has been widely accepted in the west, Qi Gong is slowly growing in practice and attention. The scientific basis of Qi Gong varies in the west, but there have been studies conducted in the western world that revealed surprising evidence in support of the existence of chi or "bio-electric energy" in cases studies of long-term practicioners. (Currents of heat and electricity & increased brain activity are just a few). Some view Qi Gong less in terms of stress reduction and exercise, while for others its is a spiritual/ metaphysical practice of internal alchemy; created by ancient Taoists and Buddhists as a yogic science. Over time with regular use the blocked Qi (Which Causes sickness and pain) is moved. The overall health of an individual is increased by this circulation of energy through the channels of the body (Meridians). There are many testimonials that can be found about the elimination of pain and the discovery of peace through the practice of Qi Gong.
For me, Qi Gong has been the basis or foundation of my practice, and was the start of my healing journey.
It opened my awareness of subtle energy and for me is intimately and inherently connected to my practice and approach of Yoga. Some say Qi Gong was a Chinese interpretation or adaptation of original Yoga systems, although this has not been historically documented or proven.
The emphasis is different but it is extremely powerful, while remaining gentle (with the right approach).
I specifically draw from various Qi Gong practices as a way to meet clients needs. I often use this Qi Gong in YOGA for clients who are Elderly, chronically ill, injured or physically limited.
For others I offer it as a way to deepen their yoga practice, developing a stronger relationship with their subtle body.

Did you know that some Gi Gong practices can create as much circulation as jogging, while staying still?!
